Removing your record from MugshotLook

Site guide · mugshotlook.com · checked 2026-08-25

A registered California data broker with a free opt-out — which means you have statutory rights here that you do not have anywhere else on this list.

MugshotLook is operated by Infomatics LLC and is registered with the California Attorney General as a data broker. That single fact changes the shape of the problem: a registered data broker carries obligations under California's privacy laws, and the opt-out is free and self-service. This is not a mugshot appeal. It is a deletion request, and you do not need a court document to make one.

It also publishes considerably more about you than a booking photo, which is the part people underestimate.

What this site is

How removal actually works

Where

The opt-out path on the site, reachable from the record page or from the “Do Not Sell Or Share My Personal Info” link in the footer.

What it asks for

Name, city and state to find the listing, then an email address and a CAPTCHA, then confirmation through an emailed link. No court document.

Do both

Submit for privatereports.com as well. They are covered by the same registration and the same operator, and they are separate listings.

Your statutory footing

As a registered California data broker it is subject to California's deletion regime. That is a stronger basis for a request than a policy favour, and it is worth saying so in writing.

What the removal industry charges for this site

No mugshot-removal firm quotes a price for this site, because the removal is free and self-service. Coverage comes from subscription privacy services instead.

One of those services was checked in August 2026 and confirmed the site's own removal route carried no stated fee.

Subscription prices exist — one widely covered service starts around $129 a year — but those buy coverage across hundreds of brokers, not access to this one. Paying a per-record fee for this site specifically would be paying for something available free.

Where Google comes into it

Not eligible under the exploitative-removal policy, since no payment is demanded. Google's “Results about you” tool is worth running here even though it does not cover arrest records — it covers contact details and, since February 2026, government ID numbers, and this site publishes exactly the categories that tool was built for. More than 10 million people have used it. After the listing is gone, Refresh Outdated Content clears the stale search result.

What we would charge you for, and what we would not

Common questions

Does MugshotLook charge to remove a record?

No. The opt-out is free, self-service and does not require a court document.

Who runs it?

Infomatics LLC, of Woodland Hills, California, registered with the California Attorney General as a data broker under registration 542906 since July 2021.

What is privatereports.com?

A sister property covered by the same data broker registration, with deletion routed through it. Submit an opt-out for both or you have only done half the job.

Will opting out remove my arrest record from the internet?

No. It removes this provider's listing. The underlying government record and other brokers' copies are unaffected — which is precisely why one opt-out rarely fixes a search result.

Try the free route first

Google removes your phone number, home address, email and — since February 2026 — government ID numbers at no cost through its own tool. More than 10 million people have used it. It does not cover arrest records, so it will not touch the listing on this page, but it is free and worth running before you pay anyone for anything.
